FACDEV Journal Club: Competency Frameworks
This journal club explores the area of competencies of university teachers, medical school teachers and faculty developers. Do these competency frameworks overlap? How can these guide our work as faculty developers and educational researchers?

We will explore the area of competencies of university teachers, medical school teachers and faculty developers. Do these competency frameworks overlap? How can these guide our work as faculty developers and educational researchers?
We have selected two open source articles for you to read prior to the event:
1. Baker L, Leslie K, Panisko D, Walsh A, Wong A, Stubbs B, Mylopoulos M. Exploring faculty developers' experiences to inform our understanding of competence in faculty development. Acad Med. 2018;93:265-273.
2. van Dijk, E.E., van Tartwijk, J., van der Schaaf, M.F., Kluijtmans, M., What makes an expert university teacher? A systematic review and synthesis of frameworks for teacher expertise in higher education, Educational Research Review (2020).
Although this event is free you will still be required to go through the checkout.
After registering, you will be sent joining instructions for the Zoom meeting. This meeting uses breakout groups so please ensure you sign into Zoom with the same email address you used for registration to ensure you are allocated to a room.
The meeting will be recorded and you will be asked to consent to this before joining. Personal details that will be captured include your video and audio feeds, your display name and any text-comments you make, and we may use this recording for the purposes of evaluation and future promotion. Although we do not intend to make this meeting available as a full-length recording for members, AMEE reserves the right to do this in the future on any of our public or private hosting platforms. Users may choose to disable their camera/microphone, and to set their display name to 'anonymous user' if they are not willing to consent to these conditions.
