The New Educators Award aims to recognize AMEE individual members who have made significant contributions within the field of health professions education at a local, regional, national or international level in a relatively short time as new educators.

A call for nominations will be made in September 2023. There will be two prizes awarded, one for applicants from the Global North and one for applicants from the Global South.  Each prize includes complimentary registration for the next AMEE conference, plus £1,000 (this may be subject to bank transfer fees and exchange rates).

The winner will also be invited to present a short communication presentation at an upcoming AMEE conference.

Criteria

Candidates can either be nominated by peers and colleagues, or they may nominate themselves. Nominees must also be an AMEE individual member for at least one year and have applied for a second-year renewal.

Nominees must also be reasonably new educators in the field of healthcare education, involved for under 10 years post-graduation. Any involvement in healthcare education before graduation may be considered during the judging process.

All nominations should be emailed to [email protected] before the deadline. You must inform the AMEE office if this is a first or second submission, along with any dates of previous submissions. You must also send a copy of your submission e-mail to your Dean or Head of School in order that verification can be achieved at a later phase if necessary.

Nominating a Candidate

You must provide two letters of support highlighting why your nominee deserves to win:
One letter should be from an AMEE individual or institutional member who is known personally by the candidate. This letter should state clearly why they believe the candidate deserves the award in relationship to their contributions.

A second letter of support from the candidate’s immediate line-manager, Head of Department, Departmental Chair or Dean is also required. This letter should state the relationship between the candidate and the person writing the letter, confirmation that they agree with the candidates’ described activities and a short statement of why they believe the candidates deserve the award.

Self Nomination

To self-nominate you must provide a personal letter which summarises why you believe you deserve the award and submit it together with your short CV on the accepted template. Other CV formats are not accepted.
